Submitted by Miller Finkelstein on the 2020 winter session study abroad program in London, England sponsored by the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice…
The day leading to my flight was a very uneasy feeling. Leaving the country for the first time was bittersweet. Dreading the 7 hour flight from JFK to Heathrow, I was determined not to show it. In the airport I was looking for signs of fellow Blue Hens. Going into the program without knowing anyone was the best decision I think I made. This is because I was so lucky not only with my roommate, but also with the friends that I made so easily off the bat. The program allows for flexibility and some freedom when in the city! Similarly, the program has many excursions in the first week alone. This was amazing since London is so massive it was extremely hard to decide what to do first. My favorite aspect so far is being able to really get the history of the city in relation to the course load. The criminal justice program helps shed light on the gin craze and other incredibly interesting topics that are just amazing. Living in this city has been one of the most amazing experiences and it’s only been one week!
