As my the second week of my study abroad experience in Granada is coming to an end, I would like to reflect on my favorite part of this week. We got the chance to go to an olive farm in Archidona in the Province of Malagá. The family that owned the land (which was a lot of acres) took us through the farm. They showed us how they used to collect the olives off the trees back when machines were not invented yet. In my opinion, the coolest part was that they are an organic farm and do not use any pesticides nor chemicals. After they showed us around, we got to taste the organic olive oil they make there. It was delicious! I love the countryside so I especially enjoyed this excursion. It was beautiful to walk through the farm and get to learn about how olive oil is made from picking the olives off the trees to cultivating the oil itself. The family was so kind and even surprised us by honoring our program and having one of their olive trees sponsored by us. It was an unforgettable experience, and the view of course was extraordinary. So excited to see what next week brings.
