Spain: In Love With Granada

Submitted by Jenna Horbatuk on the 2019 summer session program in Granada, Spain sponsored by the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures…

I cannot believe my last week here is coming up. I have fallen in love with the city of Granada and its culture. I feel like I have been able to improve my Spanish speaking skills here and I am more confident holding a conversation, which was my goal coming on this study abroad program. I am so happy I came here and met so many new people. The best part about being here was getting to meet new people from University of Delaware, other schools from the States, and even some locals my age. I have enjoyed trying different tapas and finding new things about Spain that I like.

My favorite excursion that we went on was this past weekend in Seville. Seville was beautiful and I especially liked walking through the streets and looking at the tall buildings. The view from the top of the Catedral was breathtaking. It took us almost 40 floors to get to the top, but it was definitely worth it. My time here has flown by and I knew it would. My last weekend in Granada is coming up. I plan on going back to all my favorite places, including the Albaicin, and I am excited to spend more time with my friends without having to worry about homework for a little bit because we have a long weekend that started today. My last week here is going to be bittersweet because I miss my friends and family back in the States, but I have enjoyed my experience here so much and I am going to miss the perfect weather, and the authentic food of course. I hope this journey ends on a high note.
