This past week on this study abroad trip, we spent our time in Tuscany and Rome. I enjoyed our time at a hotel more than being at the SIAF. The living situation, the food, and the activities were really fun! We had the opportunity to make our own pasta, which is something that I’ve always wanted to try. We also went to an organic farm, learned about the process of making olive oil, which was interesting because I have learned about this process many times in a few of my classes. We were able to try the olive oil and ate some delicious food. Lastly at the hotel, we made our own pizza which I think was a fun way for my classmates and I to bond and have fun.
However, Rome has been the greatest location of this trip. I feel that our stay at SIAF and the hotel was too secluded, which didn’t give my classmates and I enough opportunity to really be able to experience Italy and its culture, which I feel like is a big reason why many decide to study abroad. Being in Rome on the other hand, has allowed us to go out and immerse ourselves. Since getting here, my friends and I have had multiple opportunities to go out and see some famous sites, and see the city as a whole. This has allowed me to learn the most about this amazing country, and I am extremely grateful and loving being here.
