Italy: Pasta Making Class

Submitted by Alejandra Salazar Soto on the 2019 summer session program in Italy sponsored by the Department of Behavioral Health and Nutrition…

Making pasta in Italy was one of the most life-changing experiences that I’ve had so far. From being used to just throwing a random box of uncooked pasta into a pot of boiling water – this was far beyond throwing noodles around. This was such an interesting experience, especially because we started off with the basic and the most raw ingredients that one can possibly use. Our instructor led us, step by step, as we mixed the ingredients together. This was a little bit out of my comfort zone, considering that the entire process took over an hour. Looking at our noodles, it was a little embarrassing to see how bad they looked in comparison to those of our instructors. Once they took them in the back and cooked them, we all realized that they turned out very tasty!
