Italy: Overlooking All of Florence

Submitted by Briar Dobson on the 2019 summer session program in Italy sponsored by the School of Nursing…

Wow! What an experience traveling through Florence, Italy has been. One of the most incredible things I have gotten to participate in, is the climbing of the Duomo. The 463-step hike to the top was more than worth it once you saw the breathtaking view. Nothing prepares you for the 360-degree rooftop view over all of Florence. While at the top of Duomo, I met people who had traveled from all over the world just to see this incredible view. People traveled from places as diverse as South America, China,  and Australia. It’s a special feeling and connection being able to share this experience with so many people. The beauty, history, and meaning brought people of all different backgrounds together creating an eye-opening experience. Pictures do no justice to the view and the emotional experience of climbing the Duomo. I am incredibly grateful for this experience.
