Italy: Making Pizza

Submitted by Desirae Howard on the 2019 summer session program in Italy sponsored by the Department of Behavioral Health and Nutrition…

My second week in Italy was absolutely amazing. We left SIAF and went to Casabianca where we had multiple tours and made our own pasta and our own pizza. During our pizza and pasta classes, we made everything from scratch. In Italy, the food is so fresh and everything is made by hand. It’s different from America where everything is made and prepackaged and unhealthy for you. Friday, we left for Rome and I fell in love with the city. Compared to Casabianca which was more of a small town, I feel like the city is more my speed and we were able to walk the streets of Rome, do some shopping and get some amazing pasta. We will spend our next five days in Rome going on tours and working with our groups to present the BHAN and nutrition projects. My favorite part of program so far was making the pizza with our class because we were able to customize it and make it our own.
