Hawaii: Another Great Week

Submitted by Taylor Kligerman on the 2019 winter session study abroad program in Hawaii sponsored by the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences and the School of Education…

It was another wonderful week here in Honolulu! This week was filled with many activities such as hiking, seeing whales, shadowing doctors, and going to the Polynesian Cultural Center. The PCC was an eye -opening experience because they showed us the culture in all the islands that make up the Polynesian Triangle. On each of the six islands, we learned about their language, activities, religion, and culture. My favorite island was Aoteroa because they showed us how they performed the Haka and let us play a game with sticks and balls called poi. It was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to keep exploring as we move to the big island.
