My first week in South Africa has been a rollercoaster of emotions, events, and travel and it couldn’t have been better. From lying on the beach to hours doing classwork to eating an ostrich, it’s been an adventure! My favorite part of this week was when we swam with South African penguins at the beach. They were so cute and they were everywhere! Another amazing part about Africa that has shaped my cultural experience is the excellent food. I have had crocodile, ostrich and zebra just this week! They’re all so good and taste like a very rare steak, although the crocodile grossed me out a little! Additionally to doing fun excursions, like seal watching, we started clinical this week. I was so nervous, but I loved it! I got to do so many things like medication administration, a vaccine clinic and assisting with a vaginal birth delivery. The culture of South Africa is so vibrant and real. I am in awe of this place. I am so excited to see what the next four weeks are going to offer me.
