My second week in Italy has been incredible! We visited Caserta, Rome, and Siena. I felt a special connection while in Caserta, because this is where my family comes from. While in Rome, we visited the Vatican, Colosseum, and Forum. Our tour guide Richard made our experience very enjoyable with his rich knowledge of Roman history and architecture. My favorite part and something I will never forget is hearing Pope Francis pray at the Vatican. Even though people came from all different countries and cultures and spoke many languages, we were all united in this moment.
During a free day, my friends and I visited the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Spanish Steps. These sites were so beautiful, and it was interesting to people-watch and learn from a new culture. While in Rome, we found a small restaurant where little English was spoken, but it was so nice and one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I was sad to say good-bye to Rome, but so far Siena is a small, Tuscan city that is rich with culture and scenic views.
