Spain: Thanksgiving Dinner

Submitted by Joseph Hinton on the 2018 fall semester study abroad program in Granada, Spain…

This week was all about Thanksgiving, and to start the week, I did not know how I would feel.  I didn’t know whether I would feel at home with the dinner or homesick. In the end, it was a lovely dinner filled with friends, good conversations and best of all amazing food, just like home. I also gained about two pounds at that dinner. Every time I thought they would run out of food, another waiter would bring out a full plate of you name it, turkey, stuffing , mashed potatoes, vegetables, rolls, the whole works. This dinner was one of the big highlights of the whole semester, as we all came together to enjoy and think back on all the time that has passed so far on this program. There were memorable toasts and heartfelt words that made home feel right around the corner. The next day, I also had the pleasure of seeing my second flamenco show in the CLM and this time along with the dances, we learned the different styles of flamenco and what each one means and where it comes from. So in the end, this week was the very best of both American and Spanish culture.
