Spring Break in Rome, Italy

Submitted by Nicole Anacay on the 2018 spring semester program in Athens, Greece sponsored by the College of Education & Human Development…

Over spring break, I decided to explore Rome, Italy. I was there for about a week and jumped around the city. I went to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. Even though I was still traveling within Europe, I found that Rome was very different than Athens, Greece. The streets in Rome were usually peach, orange or pink colored. It is that type of color scheme that you look at and associate with Italy’s narrow streets. Much of the food and dining style was similar to Athens. In Rome, you still seat yourself, stay at a restaurant for hours and drink tons of espresso! The pizza and pasta are definitely better than anything I had in Greece though. I went to many touristy spots during the day, but the places I stayed at were in little neighborhoods so it was the best of both worlds. People were very welcoming in both areas and were happy to help out when I asked questions. I plan to visit Rome again in the future.
