Work Culture in Spain

Submitted by Neel Naik on the 2018 winter session program in Barcelona, Spain sponsored by the Horn Program in Entrepreneurship…

During the last week of the study abroad progam, I learned about the work culture in Barcelona. While we were on our excursion of Park Guell, I was talking to the Barcelona SAE study abroad member about the culture at the workplace. I was surprised to learn that it is a very relaxed environment and they tend to be flexible when it comes to the time they have to report to work. A typical work day tends to starts a lot later than in the United States and there are long lunch and coffee breaks. It is also accepted to use informal language with colleagues and it is also not uncommon for colleagues to have personal relationships with each other.
