Settling in Sydney, Australia

Submitted by Jessica Reynolds on the 2018 spring semester program in Sydney, Australia…

My first reaction and thoughts stepping out of the airport in Sydney, Australia were surreal. After spending more than 20 hours on the plane to get here, I was nervous and did not know what to expect. Now, after spending only a little over a week in the city of Sydney, I can definitely say I made the right choice. The city is beautiful with so much to do and explore. Furthermore, the people are incredibly friendly and embrace different cultures. Culture shock is a very real thing, and everyone experiences some level of it. For me, when I go to the nearby beaches I feel right at home. The beaches are one of my favorite places to explore, and the views are breathtaking. In my opinion, the best and most popular beach would have to be Bondi!  I am looking forward to continue meeting all new people and exploring this new culture.
