I came to Italy with the expectation of big cities, Roman ruins and the best pizza I have ever tasted. My short two weeks in Trieste and Venice has both justified and invalidated my initial assumptions. Trieste is a small, quaint city with the ruins of a tiny Roman amphitheater by the Adriatic Sea. Venice is a beautiful city tainted slightly by the commercialism of tourism. Although my stay in Venice was one to remember, it gave me a greater appreciation for the local charm and pride of Trieste. Even though both cities have their different quirks, the pizza is equally delicious!
