Different Sides Of Argentina

Submitted by Lauren Healy on the 2018 winter session program in Argentina sponsored by the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures…

The first week of classes was jam-packed with fun and of course education. We had the opportunity to visit several museums in Buenos Aires, each offering a different type of information. The Evita Peron Museum, the MALBA, and the Zanjon de Granados were all extremely interesting and showed us different aspects of knowledge about South America/Argentina in particular. After a busy week, we packed up our things and flew to Mendoza to spend the weekend. We ate the most delicious and authentic Argentinian barbecue, a “parilla” along with the classic empanada. The adventure to Aconcagua was by far the favorite part of the program since having the opportunity to see the second tallest mountain in the world is quite a great opportunity. Everywhere we looked was another beautiful sight and mountain. Along our ride to the mountain, we saw another side of Argentina outside of the city, a much more natural and rural side. The last day we spent touring the city, and learning a bit about San Martin and the Independence of Argentina. The weekend was filled with great food, amazing sights, and a real bonding time for the group of students. It was definitely the most amazing trip I’ve taken in my life, and I cannot wait to see what else is in store!
