Athens, Greece: Schools

Submitted by Elizabeth Stulir on the 2018 winter session program in Athens, Greece sponsored by the Department of English…

On our way back from an archeological dig and sea visit, our class was enjoying a nice bus ride back to our apartments as school was letting out for  Greek students. Previously, we learned the students have shift classes which means sometimes they have class in the morning and sometimes they have class in the afternoon. These students are also learning English with their Greek, then have the option between German or French. In the picture is their version of a school bus. I was a little surprised with this. Back in America, schools and day care centers are no longer allowed to use vans, but have to use buses. I’m curious to know if they have more vans because of less seating or if there aren’t as many students enrolled in a single school.
