Places to Visit in Ireland

Submitted by Lindsay Lerner on the 2017 fall semester study abroad program in London, England…

  1. Dublin:

This weekend I traveled around Ireland and experienced Dublin. Dublin is the largest city and capital of Ireland. The city was originally founded as a Viking Settlements and the remains of Viking culture are still scattered about in the city. I went on a walking tour of Dublin’s city center that included visiting Dublin’s Castle, Medieval Walls, Viking remains, famous churches and Ha’Penny Bridge. When compared to London, there is most definitely more tourist related attractions and free museums. Dublin does have a certain character to it though. It’s easy to wander around the streets for hours and immerse yourself in local culture.

  1. Temple Bar:

Temple Bar is an area south of the River Liffey in Dublin. Pubs, shops, clubs and restaurants are scattered across the area. The area is a major center for nightlife and tourism. The Temple Bar Pub is the oldest bar in Dublin and has a certain Irish flair that makes time spent there even more exciting.

  1. Cliffs of Moher:

The Cliffs of Moher are in County Clare, Ireland. The cliffs are the most visited natural tourist attraction in Ireland. The views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding landscape are beautiful and breathtaking. Hiking through the peaks and hills of the cliffs is not only a great activity, but also allows you to see the Aran Islands and the Twelve Pin mountains. After visiting Paris last week, I can honestly say I prefer the views from the cliffs then the views from the top of the Eiffel Tower.
