Ireland: Sad to Leave Dublin

Submitted by Nicole Salvatore  on the 2017 summer session program in Ireland  sponsored by the Department of History and the Department of Political Science and International Relations…

This past week, we officially left Dublin on Thursday and began our travels across the country. It was extremely sad leaving Dublin; the city had become our home for over three weeks and we were comfortable there. We had come to know the layout very well and I personally found my favorite place to drink coffee, Butlers on Grafton Street. Our first stop was Kilkenny and on our journey from Dublin to Kilkenny, we stopped at beautiful castle ruins.

The ruins were on top of a small hill and, when standing at the top of the hill, I could see miles upon miles of Irish countryside. In that moment, I forgot about my sadness over leaving Dublin and entered a stage of blissfulness and excitement; I can’t wait to see everything else Ireland has to offer.
