Ireland: Aran Islands

Submitted by Nicole Salvatore  on the 2017 summer session program in Ireland  sponsored by the Department of History and the Department of Political Science and International Relations…

Today was, unfortunately, the last day of my study abroad experience. Having been in Ireland for five weeks, I reflected on my experience and I am so thankful to have a family that supports me and a school that encourages students to travel abroad. I believe that my experience in Ireland has taught me how to immerse myself in another culture both through my academic classes on the history of Ireland and its politics, but also by interacting with the locals. This program has also encouraged me to become more self-sufficient and it has taught me how to push my limits and expand my boundaries. Ireland had such an open and welcoming culture, I am so glad I was chosen for this program. I cannot wait until the next time I can study abroad.
