Denmark: Hamlet’s Castle

Submitted by Jessica Prucha on the 2017 spring semester program in DIS Copenhagen…

On Wednesday, I went to Hamlet’s castle here in Denmark! On Wednesdays, we don’t have formal classes –  these days instead are reserved for field studies and free time to explore our city of Copenhagen. In the morning, I went with my Danish class to an open prison, where there are very few restrictions and rules for prisoners to follow. For example, they can have mobile phones and access the internet which is very different from American prisons. Then, later in the day, during my free time, I took the opportunity to go up to Kronborg Castle. This is the castle Shakespeare based Hamlet’s castle on! As a Shakespeare fan, I really enjoyed this, plus it was a beautiful day!! Glad, I finally got to see the sun.
