This week, our group traveled by bus from Granada to Seville for a short stay. We arrived on Wednesday after we stopped in Ronda and visited the oldest bullfighting ring in Spain. In Seville, we saw the beautiful Cathedral that is the third largest in Europe. Inside the cathedral is the controversial tomb of Christopher Columbus. The cathedral is enormous and beautifully decorated, with a lot of the architecture being from the Baroque period. In Seville, the other historic place we visited was the royal Alcázar, which is a beautiful palace with even more beautiful gardens. In the gardens, Season 5 of the popular television show, Game of Thrones, was filmed.
The last day in Seville, we went to the Plaza de España, which was my favorite place thus far. It is a beautiful plaza in Seville that is representative of much of the regional architecture. The views of the buildings were breathtaking and the atmosphere was wonderful with spontaneous Flamenco dancers and horse and carriage rides. At the end of our short stay in Seville, we took a bullet train, something we do not have in the United States.
