The Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace was something that I knew I had to cross off my bucket list while here in London. When I arrived, the area was filled with onlookers as the guards dressed in bright red uniforms marched and played their instruments during the ceremony. In addition to the bright red uniforms, the guards were wearing tall fur caps, and it was something that I have only seen in pictures. I could not believe I was actually seeing this all in person. I learned that this ceremony has been taking place since the 1600’s and I appreciated being able to witness something that holds such tradition. During the event, I noticed how they closed the surrounding roads down because it is a very extravagant event in London. You would think it was a giant parade going on in town. In order to get a good view of the ceremony, you must arrive there early or else you won’t be able to see as well. Fortunately, we were able to get up close and experience such a great event. I will always appreciate this particular morning because I really enjoyed watching the Changing of the Guard.
