England: Family Reunion

Submitted by Kimberly Macort on the 2017 winter session program in Austria and Hungary sponsored by the College of Education and Human Development…

During my time in Europe, I got the chance to travel to London, England for a few days that I had free from my group in Budapest. My mother had planned to meet me in London, but little did I know that 30 other family members would arrive as well, who I would finally get the chance to meet. A majority of my family is from Ireland and England, but since they are so far, I have not had the chance to meet a many of them. However, since I was over in Europe, it gave everyone an excuse to come together and meet each other. I had never expected for this to happen, but meeting all of these family members really let me see where I come from and the values of my family. I am super grateful that my study abroad program in Budapest gave me the chance to meet these family members. I never would have gotten this experience if it weren’t for this program.
