Visit to Barcelona, Spain

Submitted by Mackenzie McCracken on the 2016 summer session program in Granada, Spain sponsored by the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures…

My second week in Granada was filled with excursions and tours. We went to the beach and it was beautiful, the water here is crystal blue. I am still in shock that I got to swim in the Mediterranean Ocean. There were other students from Florida and Georgia on our excursion and it was fun to talk to them and share our experiences in Spain so far.Mediterranean Sea Mackenzie McCracken 16J Granada Spain DLLC sm

A few days later, we went to Barcelona for four days. It was much different compared to Granada, but just as beautiful. The city is much larger so you can’t walk everywhere and need to take taxis or busses. I have never had to take this much public transportation, but it is a great experience and makes me appreciate my car. We toured the Sagrada Familia which was breathtaking with its incredible architecture and sculptures.

We also saw where the Olympic Games were held in Barcelona which was so awesome.

There is so much to see in Barcelona and in our four short days we saw a lot, but I would love to go back to see more that the beautiful city has to offer. Having all of these experiences is mind blowing. I never would have thought I would be seeing all that I am. These past two weeks have been busy and I am often exhausted by the end of the day, but it is all so worth it. It’s crazy to think I only have two more weeks left so making the most of this program is so important.
