Submitted by Danielle Leppo on the 2016 spring semester program in Rome, Italy…
It is now my final week in Rome, Italy and it is a bittersweet feeling. I am ready to go home to see friends and family. I am ready to be back in my own comfortable bed. I am ready to have my own clean bathroom back. I am ready for the silly comforts of the United States such as Wawa and Target. And I never thought I would say this, but, I am ready to eat something other than pasta.
I do know, however, that once I am home and back in my comfort zone, I will wish for nothing more than to be back here in Rome. I will miss the unpredictable Roman weather. I will miss my amazing new friends. I will miss the ability to spontaneously go to explore a new neighborhood in Rome and to see new beautiful sights. I will miss the simplicity and convenience of the public transportation. I will miss the Italian people who never cease to amaze me. I will especially miss the gelato. And I will miss Rome.
I already know that soon after getting back to the United States, I will want nothing more than to return to the Eternal City that has quickly become my favorite city and my home.
