Submitted by Justin Morello on the 2016 spring semester program in Rome, Italy…
This past weekend was the first of which I left Rome, when I went to Venice. This would also be the first time I would be staying in a hostel/hotel while traveling by myself, which made me feel nervous. Though the city of Venice was incredibly beautiful, with its canals and excellent seafood, there was a strange feeling about leaving the place I so desperately wanted to go to, Rome. My feelings quickly faded as I made my way over the bridge and saw the beautiful city built on water.
One of the hardest parts about Venice was finding your way through the tight canals. The architecture is beautiful, however the buildings make you feel like you’re walking in circles for hours on end. When I finally made it back to Rome after a long train ride, for the first time I felt like I was home again. I can’t wait to explore more and see what Europe has to offer.
