Submitted by MaryVictoria Barr on the 2014 spring semester study abroad program in Granada, Spain…
Well, two months have gone by and Granada, Spain definitely feels like my home. After traveling every weekend in February, to Madrid, Paris, Amsterdam, and lastly to Norway, it was such a good feeling to relax and spend time in this beautiful city that is my home away from the United States. I have gotten into a routine: class, lunch, back to class, homework and relaxing at night, or maybe out for tapas with friends. Each day, I continue to marvel at how pretty the buildings and streets are here and I already get sad when I think about leaving in May. I started a program where I go to schools, like grade schools, and help the students learn English. It’s basically student teaching. I love it since I love kids and one day want to be a teacher so this is perfect preparation. This past weekend, we went to a carnival in Cadiz, another city in Spain right on the west coast. It’s the Spanish equivalent to Mardis Gras and we all dressed up in costumes. It was fun and a great way to experience another part of Spanish culture.
