Trying Haggis in Edinburgh, Scotland

Submitted by Jordyn Levison on the 2014 spring semester study abroad program in London, England…

This weekend, my two roommates and I traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland. It was hands down, my favorite city we’ve visited this far! We took a 4 hour train ride on Saturday morning, which had the most breathtaking views of the Scottish countryside. We stayed in an adorable boutique hotel that was within walking distance of some major attractions: we visited the incredible Edinburgh Castle, climbed over 850 feet up Arthur’s Seat (the highest peak in Edinburgh), and ate at The Elephant House (the cafe that inspired JK Rowling to write Harry Potter)! I even tried a popular Scottish dish called ‘haggis’ (although I’m not so sure what’s in it). The Scottish people were unbelievably nice and welcoming, and I really hope I have the opportunity to return to Scotland one day and explore the rest of the amazing country!
