Submitted by Alexa Hosino on the 2014 spring semester study abroad program in London, England…
This week was filled with preparation of papers, assignments and presentations. I gave my first presentation in my history class, Exploring the Global City: London. I had to do a field study where my partner and I went to a borough of London, explored, and made observations about what we saw. We had the lively borough of Covent Garden, famous for it’s street performances and variety of markets. While we were there, we stopped at this quaint crepe shop, called Creme de la Crepes. It was the most delicious, mouthwatering treat I’ve had in a while. Mine was filled with banana and chunks of gingerbread. Not to mention loads of sugar and a sweet glaze on top. I finally made it to the world renowned Borough Market. For anyone who considers themselves to be a “foodie” I would highly suggest going here. It’s a huge assortment of vendors with free samples and options for the most authentic cuisines. Supposedly, this is the place to get the “best grilled cheese”, yet I had trouble finding it so I decided to fill my hunger needs with a chorizo and pepper sandwich with olive oil and greens. The aromas surrounding this market are literally unreal, I will, without a doubt, be going back multiple times while in London. This upcoming weekend, I’m preparing to go to Paris with CAPA. I’m so excited. I can’t wait to see the Eiffel Tower, devour macaroons, and have pastries and croissants for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
