Vietnam

Submitted by Catherine Gamble on the 2014 winter session study abroad program in Laos and Vietnam sponsored by the Department of Leadership…

Vietnam has been filled with all sorts of unique cities and flavors. We’ve had so much fun exploring and doing scavenger hunts, plus the hands- on -style class time and all sorts of new foods. This past week, we went to Halong Bay which was an incredible experience getting to see one of the natural wonders. Hanoi was our crazy busy city, but I learned a lot of street smarts for sure! Hue brought us back to a smaller scale city where we got to see the citadel and pagodas and a group of us even visited the DMZ and experienced a historically traditional Vietnamese dinner with provided fancy garb and everything! Ha Noi was an incredible free weekend with motor bikes, beaches, and fantastic food! Again, we were all sad to see it end and today we made our way to Nha Trang via a twelve hour day train. In the morning, we’ll be able to see the city during the day time! We’re all so sad to be seeing the program progress so quickly, but we’ll surely be soaking up every second of it!
