Submitted by Lauren Tolila on the 2014 winter session program in Australia and New Zealand sponsored by the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics… I’ve been in Australia for a week and I am absolutely loving it here! The weather is great, the people are super nice, and Sydney is beautiful. It’s comparable to New York City in the city sense, but much more beautiful, clean, and open. The first time seeing the Sydney Harbour Bridge I was completely blown away. Sometimes seeing such a famous landmark in person can do that to you.Truly though, the most amazing place I’ve been to so far was the Sydney Opera House. We took a walking tour through it and learned about the history of the structure as well as the performances that take place there. It is a World Heritage site, in all its meaning. We have also been to the two main beaches here, Manly and Bondi, and they are absolutely stunning. Thirty-six students from Delaware on the beach is bound to be a lot of fun! Finally, we went to a local zoo and got to feed kangaroos and pet koalas. We got some amazing pictures with the kangaroos because they were very friendly and excited for us to feed them. In addition to our excursions, my group has had plenty of company visits. It has been very interesting to learn about their Marketing and Operations Management plans and to compare them to similar companies in the United States. The Australian/New Zealand program has been incredible so far. I’ve made some great friends, seen beautiful landmarks, and I honestly cannot wait to continue my journey here next week!!
