Jó napot! Good Day!

Submitted by Shelby Richard on the 2014 winter session program in Budapest, Hungary sponsored by the School of Education…

I can’t believe it’s been a week already! The flight to Vienna was super long and I didn’t get any sleep, but the past week made up for it. The first night we arrived, the whole group ate dinner together, which was really nice. What was even better was that we were eating in the basement of an old school/church (how perfect since we are all education majors)! I’m obsessed with how everything looks. Since we only spent roughly four days in Vienna, we did a lot of sightseeing in a short amount of time. One of the most memorable experiences was going to a concentration camp. The miserable weather just added to the emotional day, but it was very interesting to see how things actually were and not just read about it from a textbook.

Another one of my favorite activities was taking a tour of the Hofburg Palace. I learned so much about their lives and it was so interesting to hear and see the way Queen Elizabeth lived (definitely not like I do)!

We just arrived in Budapest, so I will fill you in more about this amazing city next week!
