Stratford-upon-Avon

Submitted by Sheila Ward on the 2013 fall semester program in London, England…

This past weekend I took a break from stressing about midterms and visited Stratford-upon-Avon and Kenilworth Castle. Both places were so picturesque especially with the fall foliage. In Stratford-upon-Avon, we visited the house Shakespeare was born in and some other places relevant to his life. The city is filled with old Tudor houses and many were even around during the time of Shakespeare.

Then we ventured on to Kenilworth Castle. This was my first time seeing ruins of a castle and it was fascinating to think someone actually lived there long ago.

I really enjoyed exploring a city outside of London. It’s interesting to see how different the countryside is from London. I definitely want to visit more country towns while I’m here!
