The most incredible experience I had this week was waking up at 4 in the morning on January 6th and walking to Playa Nancite. There we found several hundred Olive Ridley sea turtles laying and burying their eggs on the beach! The previous afternoon we had seen one female sea turtle laying her eggs and we all thought that was amazing, but to be able to see nearly 800 sea turtles doing it at once was an experience of a lifetime. It was also a rare event because apparently it only happens three times a month for only 3 or 4 months every year. We were fortunate to be able to catch it while we were there since we only stayed at Playa Nancite for two nights. The beautiful sunrise made it even more breathtaking than it already was.
