We arrived in Geneva, Switzerland on Tuesday around 4 pm. It was a beautiful day with crisp blue skies. As we took the short walk from our hotel to Lake Geneva I took in the sights and sounds of the European city. I was overcome by the beauty of the pristine waters, especially when spotting the Jet D’eau on the lake. During my time in Geneva I have had the opportunity to visit several of Switzerland’s international landmarks, such as the United Nations and the International Red Cross. On our walking tour, we learned why the UN was placed in Switzerland and why Switzerland is known for its good health and prosperity. Our guide was an obvious Swiss native, and told us of the many things invented in Switzerland, such as the word for bank (which comes from the Latin word for bench). I really enjoyed attending church on Sunday and getting to experience another culture and language in church.
