Musée Rodin

Submitted by Alison McIntyre on the 2012 fall semester program in Paris, France…

This past week after class, I visited the “Musée Rodin.”  This has been on my list of sights to see since I arrived in Paris.  The layout of the museum was great.  Upon entering, there’s a small gift shop, and an exhibit inside.  I started with the outside, because I knew the gardens were supposed to be gorgeous.  It was so pleasant walking along the paths, and admiring the sculptures.  Unfortunately, a large part of the garden was blocked off because a crew was in the middle of setting something up.  At first, I thought the crew was setting up for a fashion show, (because it’s Paris Fashion Week) but it turned out that they were getting ready for a car show….right in the middle of this garden…so cool!  After exploring outside for a bit, I went into the main building.  It was neat because the building didn’t really look like it would be a museum…more like a house.  Inside, the art was gorgeous.  There were also several pieces inside that were not created by Rodin, but that belonged to his personal collection.

Rodin’s Le Penseur

Above is a photo of  one of Rodin’s sculptures called “Le Penseur,” or the thinker.  I was particularly excited to see this one because of its’ appearance in the movie “Midnight in Paris.” I watched this movie several times before my trip to Paris, and I vividly remember this scene.

Sculpture by Ivan Mestrovic

Above is  photo of a sculpture by the famous Ivan Mestrovic.  For some reason, I really enjoyed this sculpture.  It reminded me of yoga and peacefulness.
