The next UD GIS Coffee Hour is Tuesday, October 13 from 10AM to 11:30AM. The Zoom link will be posted on the day of the meeting.
MEETING AGENDA
– GIS presentation by Charles Scarborough (see details below)
– GIS Day 2020
– Roundtable discussion
During this Coffee Hour Charles Scarborough will present Estimating Crop Evapotranspiration using a Satellite Remote Sensing Based Energy Balance Model.
Accurate spatial estimations of crop evapotranspiration (ET) are important for monitoring agricultural water demand, especially in areas with intense irrigation. Geospatial models can provide spatial estimates of crop water demand by integrating satellite and meteorological data. Mapping Evapotranspiration at High Resolution with Internalized Calibration (METRIC) is a well documented and tested model for providing spatial estimates of ET. For this study, METRIC was used to compare seasonal ET of corn and soybean under two different irrigation systems in a University of Delaware-owned irrigation research farm based in Sussex County, Delaware.
