PRESENTATION
Title: Geospatial data mining for agriculture and health applications
Description: Abdul Qadir is a Master’s student in Data Science working as a research assistant in the Department of Geography with Dr. Pinki Mondal. At the University of Delaware, he studies how changing weather conditions affect agriculture and how the use of geospatial technology allows for the monitoring of these changes in granular detail for small farms in India with a focus on monsoon crops.
In this coffee hour, he will share his work taking a data-science approach for the effective mapping of monsoon crops over large regions using a combination of radar and optical satellite data. He will also talk about spatial analysis and statistical modeling for an accurate prediction of diabetes hotspots across the U.S.. For this, diabetes study, he recently received 1st prize for the ESRI-International Statistical Institute (ISI) competition during World Statistical Congress, Kuala Lampur Malaysia in August 2019.
Abdul and his research were featured in UDaily https://www.udel.edu/udaily/2019/december/UD-data-science-student-geography/
