PRESENTER
Title: Geospatial Data Science and Human Dimensions of Global Change

Description: Dr. Jing Gao is an Assistant Professor of Geospatial Data Science at UD, affiliated with the Department of Geography and the Data Science Institute. Her research investigates large-scale human-environment interactions, especially the relationship between global urban land use, population, and climate change, using diverse data, quantitative, and computational methods from spatial statistics, machine learning, big data mining, geo-visualization, and remote sensing. With this coffee hour, she will share her work taking a data-science approach to simulating global spatiotemporal patterns of urban land expansion over the 21st century, and her research developing an error analysis method that aids the design and the performance improvement of data-driven geospatial models.
IMPORTANT NOTES
(1) date change – there is not going to be a meeting in October; October meeting is being moved to 9/24
(2) this meeting is NOT going to be recorded to protect unpublished research findings. Please connect via Zoom if you are not able to attend in person
