- The quarterly meeting of the Delaware Geographic Data Committee has been CANCELLED (was scheduled for 12/8). An alternative date has not been announced.
- Delaware GIS 2012 From the Ground Up has been scheduled for 4/26/2012 at the Sheraton Conference Center, Dover, DE — mark your calendars!
Past Events
- I presented 2 workshops on GIS during November. The first was on fundamentals of GIS and the context for use (download here) . The second was on web based GIS tools (download here).
- I attended the Geospatial Developers Meetup in Philadelphia last Thursday. Among the presenters was: Azavea, who are working on NSF-funded projected to develop a new raster format and GPU based high performance algorithm for doing Map Algebra; John Reiser, at Rowan, who has developed a license server visualization reporting project; and another developer who has been able to deploy ArcPad on iPhone.

- Each year, the Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CaGIS) sponsors two scholarships to students whose research and accomplishments support the mission of CaGIS. Please contact me for more information.
- The Delaware Geographic Service Award is presented to an individual or group that has demonstrated outstanding service to the Delaware Geospatial Community. Please follow this link for a complete list of criteria, the award process and the nomination form.
- The 2012 gathering of the Delaware GIS Community is set for April 26, 2012, at the Sheraton Conference Center in Dover, Delaware. The planning committee is now accepting abstracts for presentations and panel discussions. See the website for more information.
- United Nations University-Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS) and the Munich Re Foundation invite qualified PhD students to apply for the 2012 Summer Academy “From Social Vulnerability to Resilience: Measuring Progress toward Disaster Risk Reduction”.
