- SCOPE OF POLICYThis policy addresses the University’s concern about acts or threats of violence that affect the workplace and applies to all members of the University community. Any incidents of sexual misconduct, including sexual assault, dating or domestic violence and stalking, are addressed by the University’s Sexual Misconduct Policy.
- DEFINITIONS
- Threats or acts of violence: include, but are not limited to the following:
- Harming or threatening to harm any member of the University community or visitor.
- Damaging or threatening to damage University property or the property of any member of the University community or guest.
- Possessing a dangerous weapon or other harmful devices on University property without prior authorization.

- POLICY STATEMENTThe University of Delaware views aggressive and/or violent behavior as disruptive and contrary to the development and maintenance of a safe, productive, and supportive work environment. Such behavior will not be tolerated. Employees who exhibit such behavior will be held accountable under University policy, as well as local, state, and federal law.
- POLICY STANDARDS AND PROCEDURES
- Disciplinary Action. Any employee who commits a violent act or threatens to commit a violent act towards other persons or property on campus or at campus sponsored events shall be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from employment. All threats and acts of aggressive or violent behavior should be taken seriously and addressed immediately.
- Duty to Report. It is the responsibility of every employee to take any threat or violent act seriously and to immediately report acts or imminent threats of violence to the University of Delaware Police Department.
