The University of Delaware observes the following holidays:- New Year’s Day
- Martin Luther King Day
- Memorial Day
- Juneteenth (June 19th)
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- General Election Day (even numbered years)
- Thanksgiving Day
- Friday following Thanksgiving Day
- December Holiday Break (to be announced annually)
- POLICY STANDARDS AND PROCEDURESWith the exception of the December Holiday Break, holidays falling on a Saturday are observed on the preceding Friday. Holidays falling on a Sunday are observed on the following Monday.
If a holiday falls within a scheduled vacation period, the employee is entitled to an additional day of vacation to compensate for the holiday. A non-exempt employee who works on a holiday will be paid for the hours worked at time and one-half in addition to the regular pay.
