Today was a rainy day in Brazil! Fortunately, it was also a travel day and we were protected by the cover of an overcrowded, 19 passenger van. About three hours into our journey we had the privilege of stopping at a marvelous Oscar Niemeyer designed house surrounded by Roberto Burle Marx designed gardens. From the curvature of the roof to the flowy gardens, everything seemed to fit perfectly. Seeing such a magnificent place in person was truly inspiring. Burle Marx was said to have painted with plants and this couldn’t have been a better example of it. Along our entire journey north, we saw and experienced all aspects of the Brazilian culture. From the poverty ridden favellas, to the vast countryside, we saw it all.
