We were all very excited to arrive in Rio late last night after a full day of traveling. This morning we walked around the city a bit to learn how to get to the beach, laundromat, grocery store, and bank machines. Following our orientation we had class for a few hours, then a free afternoon!

Considering how eager everyone was to get to the beach that’s where we decided to spend it! The weather was warm and the sun shone brightly creating the perfect beach day. There are all kinds of vendors along the edge of the beach selling a variety of things. A few of us bought thin beach blankets with different designs on them to use as towels to lay on. The ocean in Rio is much clearer and blue-green than what you’d find on the east coast and it made for a wonderful swim!
