We arrived at the Uakari Lodge today! Our afternoon hike in the Amazon Rainforest revealed the deep knowledge the local community members have for their reserve. Even this Lodge rests upon giant floating logs extracted from special trees grown throughout the forest. In this photo, the roots of the tree had a historic purpose. During the rubber boom, workers had to knock on trees with particular roots, because they amplify sound, to know when the day was over. From fish eating bark to poisonous milk in trees, the local guides seemed to have infinite knowledge on the amazon ecosystem.
