Dear Delawareans,

DelawareView, an affiliate member accredited by AmericaView, is led by the Department of Geography at the University of Delaware.

The mission of the DE View is to act as a facilitator to support the successful acquisition and the use of remotely sensed data for training, education, and applied research in Delaware’s higher education institutions and to serve as a remote sensing education and outreach program by providing remotely sensed data.

In particular, the objectives of the DE View are to provide the Delawarean and the public with spatial data and geographic knowledge about space, place and time that are derived from remote sensing and GIS technologies. In addition to that, these missions will enhance and promote the K-16 education, applied research, workforce development, and technology transfer activities in remote sensing and geospatial technologies through the Delaware View consortium.

The following shows the DE View’s specific objectives and tasks:

To promote the use of remotely sensed data in the K-12, undergraduate and graduate programs.

  1. To advance applied and advanced remote sensing applications and technology transfer through research.
  2. To produce remote sensing expertise (or geospatial expertise) through outreach programs and new teaching materials developed by current primary members.
  3. To provide the applications to potential user communities in DE
  4. To offer appropriate education and outreach (by short course) to K-16 and the public.
  5. To expand the current consortium
  6. To develop new methods and applications in terms of the use of RS
  7. To connect organizations involved in remote sensing in DE
  8. To do a timely distribution of remotely sensed data
  9. To facilitate access to public remotely sensed data. It will be distributed through a web-based interface that allows users to access, preview and download the data.
