Welcome to the Donald A. Watson Research Group!
Founded in 2009, our research develops new transition metal catalyzed methods for organic synthesis and explores catalytic mechanisms. These studies have invented new methods to introduce heteroatoms into organic molecules, pushed the limits of cross-coupling reactions, and led to the development of new reactions, ligands, and catalysts. Our work is driven by current societal problems, especially the need for efficient synthesis of molecules for pharmaceuticals, the development of materials for energy storage, and the reduction of our environmental footprint. We are a vibrant and collaborative team with a diversity of skills, thoughts, and experiences that enables all group members to develop to their highest potential.
