identifying novel therapeutic intervention strategies to prevent, slow, or reverse depression-associated cardiovascular disease

Cardiovascular  Psychophysiology Laboratory

Depression affects ~15% of adults across the lifespan and is one of the leading causes of global disease and disability burden. In addition to its debilitating effects on mood and behavior, people with depression are also much more likely to develop cardiovascular disease. Our laboratory is interested in determining the psychophysiological mechanisms linking mental illnesses like depression to accelerated cardiovascular aging, with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic intervention strategies to prevent, slow, or reverse depression-associated cardiovascular disease.
