On September 20th, the Biden Institute held a National Voter Registration Day event on The Green. There was a lovely turnout and several clubs including Students for the Environment and the Student Government Association ran Turbovote registration tables. Turbovote is a platform that reminds registered voters of upcoming elections in the area they are registered to vote.
As busy college students and faculty, it is super important that there is a system like Turbovote that helps ensure that we stay on top of elections. Being registered to vote and actively participating in elections do not necessarily go hand in hand. Today, volunteers like myself worked to change this. We know that most people on this campus are registered voters but we want to make sure that they’re engaged voters and are enthusiastic about democracy!
Several of our Climate Scholars attended this event and registered for Turbovote themselves. Voting is one of the most important actions we can take in regard to climate change so it is great to see these scholars being civically engaged!
